How Umbrella Services Work


What is an umbrella company?

Our umbrella company is an alternative to being paid under PAYE by your client or agency and this is fully compliant. You become an employee of the umbrella company and receive all statutory rights. In addition, working through our umbrella company, you can claim employment expenses related to your contract. These expenses are off-set against your taxable income; this in turn will reduce your income tax and National Insurance liabilities.

You will be provided with a Contract of Employment under the Employment Rights Act 1996 which grants you with employment rights and statutory protection. The contract will be compliant with the Agency Workers Regulations.

We will liaise with your agency/client and take care of all the administration.

Your contract of employment with us will be drawn up on permanent basis with the expectation that you will be working for us on a number of assignments.

Your permanent workplace will normally be your home which you will use as a base to:
  • search for new assignment
  • complete your paperwork
  • travel to and from the various temporary workplaces that you need to attend to undertake your assignments
As an employee you will be covered by the umbrella company's insurance cover which includes:
  • employer's liability
  • public liability
  • professional indemnity


1) You register with us as a new employee!

2) Respond to our welcome pack and reply to the questions in the pack.

3) Return back to us all forms completed. After you register let us know what agency you work with or client and we will do the rest.

4) Every week you will be required to submit your timesheet and we will issue invoices on your behalf, collect the payment, calculate tax and NI and pay the net amount into your bank account. If you work for an agency then you or the agency will confirm the hours you have worked each week and the rate. Your agency will send us the payment for your work and on the same day we will calculate the tax and NI, your allowable expanses and proceed to pay your money due into your bank account.

5) Each time we pay you, we will send you a detailed payslip for your records.
